La cote de référence correspond à la cote du plan d'eau modélisé au droit d'un projet ou d'une construction existante. La cote de référence ne correspond donc pas à une hauteur d'eau mais bien à l'altimétrie du plan d'eau. La hauteur correspond à la différence entre le cote de référence et la cote altimétrique du terrain naturel
