🌱 ______ Aware of the impact we have on the #environment, several years ago we decided to start reducing the size of our packaging to reduce our #waste. ♻ By #2024, the figures are in: a reduction in the size of our packaging of up to 50%! 📉 We're proud to say that this constant quest for improvement has put us ahead of future standards. 👏 Indeed, a bill, scheduled to come into force in May 2025, was introduced at the end of 2023, encouraging companies to adopt the same approach as ours: reducing the size of packaging. 🤝 It's simple actions, constructive thinking and an awakened #environmental conscience that drive us to keep evolving.

Fresh news on the sustainability journey of Actimel in Belgium ! Besides our dairy farmers efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the milk used to produce Actimel in Rotselaar, we are also tackling that of packaging. We take another step towards the circular economy with label-free Actimel bottle on our whole range. From now on, the iconic little white bottles will have the brand name, allergens and vitamins embossed. What's the impact ? 22 tons less plastic & 159 tons less CO2 (based on 2023 volumes) and we improve the recyclability of it. And we don't stop there. We are also launching a big bottle of 645g which is also helping to save 17% of packaging versus 6 littles bottles. I would like to thank Le Monde newspaper for publishing my latest article on the subject of “regenerative procurement” I share in this article the information about the implementation of the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) on January 1st 2024. The objective is to limit greenwashing practices. However, I regret in this article the slow transformation of value chains towards more virtuous practices, due, according to my analysis, to the difficulty to demonstrate the impact in the income statement. In my article, I promote the adoption of “regenerative procurement “ methods, from the Latin regeneratio, "return to life". It is a "renewal (...) of what was (...) altered", according to the Larousse dictionary. These procurement practices, inspired by regenerative agriculture, involve applying a holistic approach to restoring the business environment. The goal is to create a larger ecosystem that allows for greater collaboration between suppliers and customers. By pooling their resources, companies that develop “regenerative procurement” go beyond sustainable procurement that only seeks to maintain without degrading. I illustrate such practices with the example of Colgate-Palmolive Palmolive which developed a mono-material toothpaste tube by banning aluminium which made this packaging non-recyclable, and which shared this innovation (for free) with its competitors. In the conclusion I regret that only 9% of the total plastic produced (all types) is recycled, 12% is incinerated, the rest is thrown away in the nature. Disposable paper, single-use plastic: same fight! 🙅 Today, every European throws away about their average weight of 73kg of paper and cardboard packaging every year. Disposable is becoming the norm, and that's a problem: 🌲for the environment: in Europe, paper and cardboard comes mainly from intensively managed forests in monocultures. As a result, forest ecosystems are degraded and forests absorb less CO2. 👥for social justice: to produce paper and cardboard, the EU imports pulp from Latin America and Asia, contributing to deforestation and human rights violations in these regions. ⚖️for the freedom of choice of consumers, who are not offered other options. And recycling has its limits: 🏭 lack of infrastructure, ♻️ composite materials that are difficult or impossible to recycle, ♽ degradation of the material and need to add virgin pulp. Replacing plastic with paper and cardboard is not the solution! The priority is the reduction of waste, through, among other things, the reuse of packaging 📢 Europe 🇪🇺 must take the right decision. Help us spread the word and share the video 👇

This video represents an entertaining Life Cycle Assessment of a product. It does not leave much space for personal opinions on emissions and depletion of resources. #circulareconomy #lifecycleassessment #carbonfootprint

Impressive video to explain how important reuse is. That´s actually why we created our REBORN collection. Because we believe in reincarnation In addition to new and sustainable products, we rely on using already existing resources. In our webshop you can find a fine selection of articles which are given a second life by reintegrating them into the recycling-circle. https://lnkd.in/e-n9mzQE

🔍 A map to navigate the reuse sector Less than a month ago, the recycling and reuse-focused research firm, Mme & M. Recyclage ♻️ published a comprehensive map of B2B reuse actors. 🗺️ An impressive undertaking in its thoroughness, the map includes 2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ actors spanning primarily across France with additional coverage in Benelux, Germany, Spain, Northern Italy, and North America. This map is the 4th version created by Lise Nicolas and Enzo Muttini, growing from 70 actors to 250, with over 3.5 times more actors referenced since 2021. 📈 This expanding map mirrors the growth of the reuse sector ! 👏 As representatives of reuse businesses in Europe, we applaud this work, which highlights key actors in the sector, some of whom are among our members ;) 🇪🇺 At a time when PPWR negotiations face challenges at the European level, this map serves as a reminder that the reuse sector doesn't wait for legislation to develop and disrupt the norms of the linear economy. 🔗 To download the PDF in high definition: https://lnkd.in/dj6iDv5R 🔗 To explore the work of Mme & M.
