In a recent Facebook post, The French Court of auditors Cour des comptes claims that the average alcool consumption in France per habitant is about 12 liters of pure alcohol. 74 bottles of wine, 137 bottles of beer and 9 bottles of whisky. That’s the average detailed consumption over a year for a French citizen according to this post. If the wine and beer consumption is plausible, at least for French people, the whisky bottles count may be a bit surprising. France is indeed the biggest whisky consumer in the world.
